Liberty Island Given as a gift to the United States from the French in 1886, the Statue of Liberty remains a beacon of hope for immigrants and a welcome to returning Americans. This famous landmark was also the site of Magneto's first attempt to turn the world's visiting dignitaries into mutants -- leading to his first full blown battle with the X-Men. Repairs have since been made and security heightened.

5th Avenue Reputably one of the most expensive streets in the world, 5th Avenue is comparable to Oxford Street in London and the Champs-Élysées in Paris. Tiffany, Cartier, and Sachs 5th are permanent fixtures here along with landmarks like the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, and St. Patrick's Cathedral. The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim among others can also be found here.

Times Square It's easy to feel like you're standing on the pulse of the world here. Towering motion picture billboards hum with digital life. Corporate logos slither up the faces of buildings like sentient neon. Stars gaze down from the large windows of MTV studios. Stop at a streetcorner and you might hear any number of languages being spoken by passersby. You can buy almost anything in the world here and it's perhaps because of this that the the air seems to crackle with possibilities.

The Vance Building A huge warehouse-like structure owned by Ms. Gina Vance located on the Western fringe of SoHo. Outwardly, it appears to be like every other loft in the area, a perfect facade that conceals the building's true purpose. It acts as the headquarters of The Mutant Underground. All operatives return here upon the completion of their missions to receive new orders before leaving for the field again. In addition, the building houses the Eastern Terminus of The Tunnels and serves as District X's link to the outside world.

District X A mutant ghetto recently flooded with refugees, the area is more commonly known as "Mutant Town" in the media. Despite the name, it comprises only a cluster of apartments and businesses that make up roughly four city blocks in Hell's Kitchen. A hastily constructed ten foot wall, built by residents to keep intruders out, surrounds the district on all sides. It's neither the glitziest nor safest of neighborhoods, but there is a strong sense of community here.

Residential Neighborhoods A large part of the Big Apple's diversity and charm is that it's a city of neighborhoods, rather like a patchwork quilt. Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Chelsea, Greenwich Village, Soho etc. -- each has its own distinctive flavor.

Pleasant County, Utah This little community is a tranquil and isolated stretch of sprawling suburbs juxtaposed against a rural backdrop. Due to a strong contingency of religious ties, the values of family and unity hold strong here. Because of this, it has gone on, rather unaffected by both the recent civil, economic, political, and racial strife wracking the rest of the country. That is, until recently. A human interest piece centered on this community published in the New York Times has thrust it into the national spotlight, attracting all types of outsiders.
