This is Sum Ting Wong, live, inside the CNN Newsroom where, just an hour ago, we received a video tape believed to have been filmed at the start of the Detroit Mutant Uprising, more commonly known amongst the general populace as, M-DAY. The footage, which we shall be showing once an hour, every hour, for the rest of the day, clearly depicts the outbreak of the terrorist action and the subsequent failure by local police to protect the city's inhabitants. We would like to warn you that, though much of the footage has been removed due to the graphic nature of the violence depicted, what remains is still not for the faint of heart.
As seen here at the start of the initial riots, rapidly forming police in riot gear attempted to press a mass of protesters back from outside their precinct through the use of tear gas, assaulting the mob with an aerial bombardment.
However, moments later, the haze of gas is swiftly siphoned from the air by one of the mutant terrorists, clearing the line of sight for the mutant youths who immediately began hounding the police with various rocks.
At this point, chaos seems to have erupted from within the mutant ranks. Clearly shown here, multiple explosive forces reduce many of the nearby buildings to mere brick and dust while a member of the Anti-Riot Squad is telekinetically lifted off his feet and thrown against the rubble.
As we can now see, by the time the city returned to darkness, it was destroyed beyond recognition. Multiple infernos and various smaller fires burned into the night whilst the city's few surviving law enforcement officers retreated into the countryside, attempting to rendezvous with the National Guardsmen that were forming up several miles away.
Sadly, here, the footage was cut short as the news team was caught in the continuing crossfire during one of the last battles to be fought. They are now presumed dead.
